Alrighty!! July 8, 2024 was the "Big Day" for our Level One Adventurers! These young people decided to host a fundraiser to earn money to help with purchase of school supplies! Under the direction of Coach Neil Ortego, the adventurers prepared a delicious meal centered around an Italian theme! This is the menu they chose:
Fresh Green Salad with Italian dressing
Roasted Chicken Pesto Pasta (to err on the healthy side, they used Banza pasta (gluten free)
Italian Green Beans
Buttery Garlic Bread (they made the garlic spread from scratch)
Delightful Tiramisu (this was the first time making this dish. For some this was the first time learning about this dish)
It was a great first time for these future chefs!
Great big "Thank you" to Pastors Steve and Sarahi Sawtelle for allowing us to host this event at the Coffeehouse. A great big "Thank you" to Myra Fontenot, owner of The Grit House for assisting us with her food truck to serve the meals.
A great big " Thank you" to Mrs. Rachel Ortego for helping to secure a nice donation that helped with the food cost, affording the adventurers to make a nice profit. We now consider Mrs. Rachel and Mrs. Myra are official coaches--we reeled them in! LoL
