Visiting SOLACC Awards Program

What a fantastic day! We continue to provide options for our adventurers to explore. Two of our adventurers attended the scholarship ceremony for recipients from SLCC. It was a great motivator for Gustavia and Aaliyah. They are students in the CNA and First Responders class at Ville Platte High under direction of Mrs. Michelle Guillory. The adventurers were able to speak with recipients from C.B. Coreil campus who are in the nursing program. The scholarship recipients gave the girls great advice from keeping grades up to applying for every available scholarship to considering the dual enrollment program. Prior to traveling to Lafayette, I told the girls to take time and "smell the air" once they got there. Of course they had confused look on their faces! LoL After seeing all the recipients go up to receive their scholarship and engaging in conversation with them the girls told me, " Ms. Linda, now I understand what 'smelling the air' is all about!"

SOCKAC's mission is to provide options for young people to explore and begin to define themselves.

 Mission accomplished!
